Wardrobe Wish List

I wish for many things in life, among them, fabulous clothes. So here is a list of things I’d like to add to my collection. Not necessarily designer items, just stylistic choices.

Red pumps - I’ve got red suede flats, but I want those scarlet pumps that simply pop. And not plasticky patent “leather” ones either, the real deal. I think they look fab with black, or with black and white. Or navy. They’re just hot.

A brown tweed skirt – trumpet or A-line, it matters not, just one short enough to wear with knee-high boots.

A burgundy velvet jacket – one-button, please! This just seems like a classic, and would look great with jeans. And it’s all luxurious and autumn-y, but can also be used during the holiday season. But none of that ridiculous crushed-velvet nonsense. I thought we left that in the 70s.

Black, knee-high boots – I have brown ones, and I love them. I’d like round-toe or pointy, none of this half-way stuff. And stilletto heels, or skinny rectangles, none of this stacked nonsense or platforms. Makes them look like hooker boots.

A capelet – Even if I have to make it myself, these little, fitted, to-the-elbow capes are dressy and adorable and I just want one. They just seem like the perfect addition to a cashmere turtlneck for casual autumn wear, or as a dressier version of a sweater to wear out when dressing up for a night on the town.

Cute blouses – I do not have nearly enough. I especially love some of the ones from Anthropologie, like this one, and this one, and this one, too. Alas, I am not a millionaire, thus I must lust in vain. If only such adorableness were affordable!

A princess coat – Stylish, retro, and oh-so-dressy, this would be my dress-up winter coat. To be worn over lbds (little black dresses) or to the symphony.

Galoshes/wellies - Knee-high in any color, so long as they’re rubber. Green ones would be particularly fun, but black is nice, too. For mucking around in the country or for puddle jumping. A stylish way to weather inclement weather.

Granny boots – Mid-calf or knee-high, these lace-up boots with round toes and mid-sized heels just look deliciously Victorian. Plus, I’ve always wanted something witchy like them. For once, I have no idea what I’d wear them with. I just want them.

Wool trousers – Brown tweed or olive pinstripe, I just want them! Wide-leg, please. Or at the very least, trouser-cut. The lovely lined kind. *sigh* If only they didn’t need to be drycleaned…

Floral print tops – I don’t have any. So that means I don’t have nearly enough. They just look so much nicer than the plain ones. Too bad they are twice as hard to find and way more expensive. The nice ones, anyway. *sigh*

  • Capelets make you look fat. And, the larger you are the larger you look, especially in pictures. I know, because it happened to me.

If you’re of a smaller build, and you like that sort of thing, then the Capelet is for you. But if you’re a larger girl, stay away from it.
